For more than four decades, the Makepeace family has worked with Canadian nephrite jade — from mining in Northern British Columbia to selecting finished pieces for collectors around the world.

One of the World's Largest Nephrite Producers
Jade West operates four mines located in Northern British Columbia, 100 miles east of the Alaska border. During a short summer mining season — when the area is free from snow — we annually mine 100 tons of nephrite jade.
The finest jade from each season is selected for jewelry and sculptures created by master carvers. Other material becomes souvenir products, collectibles, and rough jade available to enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirk Makepeace
Kirk Makepeace is a pioneer of Canada's jade industry and the founder of Jade West, Canada's largest nephrite jade mining company. For over 50 years, he has dedicated his life to discovering, mining, and promoting Canadian nephrite jade around the world.
Known for his passion, integrity, and commitment to responsible mining, Kirk helped establish British Columbia jade as among the world's finest. His legacy continues through his family and the generations of carvers, miners, and collectors inspired by his work.

Nikki Makepeace is a GIA Graduate Gemologist specializing in green nephrite jade authentication. She oversees finished products at Jade Mine, ensuring every piece meets the quality standards collectors expect from Canadian nephrite.
