The sphere was one of the best jade spheres we have ever seen. Beautiful deep jade green with no fractures. It appears to be Polar Jade. We have purchased many jade items from the Jade Mine (Jade West) and have always been completely happy with our purchases. Over twenty years ago, Kirk Makepeace described his secret to achieving a glass clear finish on the British Columbian jade that his company was mining. I purchased jade rough from Kirk at that time and put his technique to very effective use. I wrote two articles for the Austin Gem & Mineral Society's newsletter, describing Kirk's polishing technique. Absolutely gorgeous material to work with.
